(Rosa multiflora)
Multiflora rose is a thorny perennial shrub introduced from Asia for erosion control and wildlife habitat. It has become invasive across much of the eastern and central United States. The plant forms dense thickets that crowd out native vegetation, restrict movement, and reduce pasture productivity. Birds readily disperse their seeds, allowing them to spread into natural areas. It is listed as a noxious or prohibited weed in many states.
